OMAR CRAIG FORSYTHE (born August 2, LEO) was born and raised in Jamaica. He is known musically as JAY-5Flow. Jay-5, for short, is a diverse Los Angeles based international reggae and dancehall artist, who believes and breathes the philosophy “Never give up on your dreams… Keep working hard each day and you will be successful.” Jay-5, born in Governspen, who grew up in Rio Nuevo/Ocho Rios, Jamaica, revealed to his mother at a very young age his desire to be an entertainer. Music was so deeply embedded in young Jay-5, that it would eventually led him to get suspended from high school during his teenage years. Like fire, music burned fervently inside young Jay-5 that it forced him to go against school policy and performed in front of his entire classroom. Instead of being deterred, Jay-5 sought out more appropriate avenues to quench his appetite for music. In the late 1990’s, with the support of his good friend from Brick Steel Production, Christian/reggae producer/engineer, Russian, Jay-5 began performing at many local shows in the parishes of St. Mary and St. Ann, Jamaica. Jay-5’s strong desire to eagerly showcase his versatility, diversity and wit, grew rapidly which led him to perform in Tourist sector, and he also provided live entertainment in resorts across Jamaica’s North Coast. In 2003, Jay-5 relocated to Los Angeles, California to further pursue his career in entertainment. In 2008, Jay-5 met the producer and CEO of Rebel Soulz, through Russian. Under the guidance of the Rebel Soulz camp, Jay-5 did his first professional recordings, which include “Magic (Pearl Riddim)” and “Just Dance (Current Affairs Riddim)”. After that recording and performing, music became a career for Jay-5; his dreams were now taking flight. This led to the alliance with well-known dancehall artist Spragga Benz who is the CEO of Red Square productions. Spragga Benz is a well-known artist and actor from the hit movie Shottas (Wayne) His relationship with Spragga Benz and his Red Square family created platforms that gave him the break to perform in international events. Jay-5 toured several states in the U.S. with Spragga Benz sharing the stage with rapper Foxy Brown, Kymani Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Beenie Man, Gyptian, Warrior King, Konshens, Kranum, of course Spragga Benz and many others. In 2011, Jay-5 started to take his music very seriously. Jay-5 performed at the “2014 Sting” which is one of the most anticipated dancehall platforms that takes place annually in The Parish of Saint Catherine, Portmore, Jamaica. . At the 2014 Grammys, Jay-5 was nominated for the pop/reggae category for his hit song Tick Tack. In 2015, VP Records signed Jay-5 to a 4 year distribution deal. VP Records is an independent record label, located in Queens, New York. The label is known for releasing music by the most notable and critically acclaimed artists in reggae, dancehall and soca. Founded in 1979, VP Records has gone on to become the world’s premier reggae and Caribbean music label and distributor. Jay-5 recorded Dancehall Macarena his hit single produced Hot Boxxx Entertainment, which got over one million views on his Vevo channel the album The Dancehall Macarena was distributed in 2015 by VP Records. His musical talent was also recognized by three times billboard producer, Minto Pierre (MPR), who produced the track for “Shake It Señorita” which is on his The Dancehall Macarena album. Minto Pierre is Jay-5’s producer and has been working with him since the beginning of his career. Furthermore, while in California, the CEO of Belizerunway managed Jay-5 that brought him plenty of exposures as an international reggae and dancehall artist. In early 2016, Jay-5 was one of the hosts for one of the biggest Caribbean Festival called Beach Road Trip (BRT). Jay-5 is currently working on a new single ‘One Chance’ produced by Chase Mills Records out of Kingston, Jamaica
